I can’t stand the sound of Mel Keiper’s voice, I think that’s what it is. On a quick run to Target for some outlet covers I tuned into ESPN Radio to catch the end of the Michigan vs. Utah game, and Keiper starts to speak. All I hear is blah blah blah, hair, blah blah.
The day is only partly over but we’ve seen a few significant upsets;
#25 Pitt getting spanked by unranked Bowling Green
Eastern Carolina knocking off #17 Virginia Tech
and of course Utah “upsetting” Michigan
- Ohio State looked sub-par in my opinion. They settled for field goals when the score at the half should have been 42-0. Todd Boeckman threw a few passes that against a Big Ten team would have been interceptions. Beanie Wells foot and ankle will be the bane of his existence.
- The defense was stout, but as well, they should have been.
- Terrelle Pryor looked good in his first game. Once he gets the jitters out he can do good things.
My player of the week so far would have to go Mark Sanchez of USC throwing for 338 yards on 26 completions. The only negative mark would be his INT. His knee looked fine to me.
And while last year I complained that LSU looked overrated, which I believed, I’ll say that they fared far better than Michigan against Appalachian State.
